Point-fixed glass facades or double-skin facades provide maximum transparency and fit well into modern architecture. Facade glass can be fixed to a steel substructure as well as to hanging or standing glass posts. By using glass posts it is possible to achieve the perfect facade transparency from every angle, as there is no need for any other bearing structure covering the view.

By using point fixing it is possible to build a double-skin facade from a single piece of glass as well as a warm facade from glass units. There are special point fixings for glass units, which hold only the inner glass of the glass unit, preventing the formation of a cold bridge and providing a clean glass surface from the outside. All point fixings for a glass facade are swivel fixings that allow the glass to deflect in the case of heavy wind load to avoid excessive glass stresses.

A glass facade or glass curtain wall with point fixing requires specific knowledge from the engineer and builder as the facade is subject to wind loads and the measurements of the glass panes are always different. Depending on the wind load, the correct glass thickness must be dimensioned, which in turn determines the weight of the glass panes. The wind load and weight of the glass panes are the basis for selecting the correct fastening fittings.
